A menstrual cycle could not be regular sometimes due to various reasons like anxiety, stress, worries, and some hormonal changes.
- Asafoetida is known to increase the secretion of the female hormone, progesterone. Thus it facilitates menstruation. Fry asafoetida in clarified butter and add a teaspoonful of it to buttermilk. Have this once in a day.
- An infusion of ginger sweetened with sugar is taken for correcting irregular periods.
- Sesame seeds are also used as a home remedy to regulate menstrual cycle. Have 1 teaspoon of sesame powder twice daily.
- Take fenugreek sprouts 2 tablespoon daily with your salad.
- Have iron and protein rich foods. Among vegetables, white pumpkin, papaya, drumstick, snake gourd, bitter gourd and cucumber are good for dysmenorrheal.
Don't take any medicines without a prescription. If the delay or irregularity is not much then you need not worry, however if it is too long or severe then consult a gynecologist for a treatment.
