One of the best home remedies for head cold is drinking hot soups and teas which help relieve nasal congestion and also prevent dehydration. The inflamed membranes of the throat and nose can be effectively soothed by drinking these hot liquids. A mixture of warm water, lime juice and honey is also one of the effective treatments for head cold and helps in alleviating the symptoms of a cold to a large extent. Garlic is another effective home remedy for head cold as it contains important antibiotic properties which can help treat this problem.
Garlic can either be added to hot chicken soup or can even be boiled in water and consumed as one of the treatments for head cold. While suffering from head cold blocked ears is a very common problem for most people. This mainly happens when the Eustachian tube gets blocked and is more frequent during night time. One of the best ways to get rid of blocked ears is by inhaling steam. Adding clove or eucalyptus oil to the hot water and then inhaling the vapors is also a good way to relieve blockages in the ear. During a head cold blocked ears can also be treated directly with clove oil. Ear drops can be prepared by boiling clove oil and sesame oil and 2-3 drops of this mixture can be put into the blocked ears at least 2-3 times a day to provide relief from ear pain and congestion.
Another good home remedy to get rid of blocked ears is fresh onion juice. This juice can be warmed slightly and used as ear drops 2-3 times a day to get good relief. Intake of lemon juice can also be increased while suffering from a head cold to get rid of blocked ears.
