To begin with, scarring of this nature is commonly seen in individuals who experience acute attacks of acne during puberty. As is expected, there are various treatment options, but these are dependent on how quickly you want the scars eliminated. Treatment options range from rubbing the scar off the skin physically to the application of lasers to just ignoring them and giving them time to heal by themselves.
Typically, acne attacks lead to scarring on the face, which appear very much like expanded mountainous structures, gorges and craters. In most cases, the type of scarring determines the choice of treatment for the condition. In most cases, the usual types of treatment used, include surgery, needling, dermabrasion and of course, laser treatments. It is always recommended to consult your physician and then choose the best treatment available to remove your scars.
Although there are some home remedies that can be used to reduce the intensity of the scars, they cannot be erased completely. You can use petroleum jelly for reducing acne scars. Applying petroleum jelly to the affected area helps in moisturizing the skin and keeping it supple and healthy. Another effective option could be the use of lemon juice to help lighten the scars. Firstly, you will need to clean the affected areas with water. Then take a ball of cotton and dip it in the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon and apply it lightly on the scars. Rinse your face thoroughly after about 10 minutes. Do be careful when you use lemon juice on your face as it may lead to an increase in the photosensitivity of your face. You can also try using baking soda. Take a teaspoon of baking soda and mix it with two spoons of purified water. Apply this mixture on the affected areas of the skin and leave it for a few minutes. Then wash it off completely and massage the areas with some olive oil. This will ensure that your skin remains healthy and supple. Another home remedy that is often used to tackle acne scars is to take some yogurt and mix with some zero fat sour cream. Then add some ground oatmeal as well as a couple of spoons of fresh lemon juice to the mixture. After blending it thoroughly, use it as a face pack. Leave it on for a few minutes and then wash it off. Vitamin E oil can also be used to diminish the intensity of the scars.
