I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO FOR INNER EAR INFECTION AND SWIMMERS EAR

An inner ear infection is different from swimmer’s ear. It is essentially an infection of the labyrinth of the ear which is composed of sacs and tubes that lie below the skull. Such an infection is also known as labyrinthitis. Here are some remedies for alleviating inner ear infection;
  • Ear infections often occur when immunity is low. In order to boost the immune system and help the body to fight infection better, it is advisable to increase the intake of vitamin C. The vitamin can be obtained from citrus fruits and is also available in the form of supplements.
  • Manganese deficiency is also known to increase the risk of ear problems. Apart from manganese, you should also increase the intake of nutrients such as zinc and the B vitamins.
  • Garlic has anti-microbial properties and is effective in treating ear infections. Add a few drops of warm garlic oil to the affected ear for relief from itching, swelling and pain. Garlic may also be consumed raw or added to food.
  • Herbal remedies such as ginkgo biloba, Echinacea and olive leaf extract help to curb infection and also strengthen the immune system.
Swimmer’s Ear is said to occur when there is infection of the outer ear canal due to bacteria or fungus. A good way to differentiate between infections of the inner or outer ear is to tug the earlobe gently or move it around slightly. If there is pain, then an outer ear infection is most likely. Warm compresses are beneficial in alleviating symptoms of an outer ear infection. It is important to keep the ear dry at all times in order to prevent further growth of fungi or bacteria. Rubbing alcohol may be used to destroy bacteria inside the ear canal and to reduce itching and tenderness.
