Along with that, you can start a simple routine of brushing your teeth thrice a day. A regular toothpaste would suffice I most cases, but if your gums are infected, then you will need to use a medicated toothpaste. Floss your teeth on alternate days after brushing the teeth. Once a week, brush your teeth with sea salt lime. This will help to control the bad breath as well as help to whiten your teeth. After brushing your teeth rinse your mouth with water that has hydrogen peroxide added to it. After every two or three weeks, brush your teeth with baking soda. Baking soda will ensure that no tartar is formed in the mouth. You also need to make it a practice to rinse your mouth immediately after you have eaten your meal. This will make sure that there are no food particles stuck in your mouth, and this in turn will stop the plaque from forming. You can also drink the juice of the guava fruit or better yet eat the fruit itself on a regular basis to combat plaque.
Cleansing the tongue with a tongue scraper should be a part of your regular routine. A tongue scraper helps to remove dead cells, food particles, and bacteria from the surface of the tongue. Make sure that you drink lots and lots of water so that the mouth remains moist at all times. Whenever you feel hungry, eat something that is crunchy, such as apples, celery, and carrots, among other foods. At the same time, avoid eating food that carries a very strong odor such as garlic, onions, eggs, or fish. Take a few leaves of parsley and boil them in water. After the water cools down, drain this water and use this water as a mouth wash. Alternatively, you can chew parsley leaves to combat the bad odor. Bad breath can also be caused due to excessive heat in the stomach – for this you will need to eat fruits and vegetable that are high in water content.
