Home remedies that can be applied to bring relief from cold are:
- Warm coconut oil and massage gently on the child’s chest and upper portion of the back for 5 minutes each. This massaging is recommended before the child goes to bed in the night. Do not switch on the fan or air conditioner. This will help in soothing the chest and the child can have a good night sleep.
- Allow your child to drink plenty of warm liquids and soup. This will soothe chest congestion and sore throat.
- Mix 3 to 4 teaspoon of onion juice with 3 to 4 teaspoon honey. Take this daily to prevent cold.
- Frequent wiping of the nose with a cloth can leave the skin chapped and dry. Hence apply petroleum jelly on the skin.
- Add coarsely ground ginger in a cup of water and boil water till it is reduced to half the original. Mix honey and drink warm before going to bed.
