There is no relationship between consumption of cold water and dandruff. Dandruff is the occurrence of white flakes on the scalp. It is a form of seborrheic dermatitis, with unknown cause. Cold weather increases the risk of dandruff. Other contributing factors are stress, food allergy, harsh chemicals, electric curlers or driers and dry indoor heating. The dead cells of the scalp shed at a rapid rate. They clump and aggregate together as dandruff. Nutritional deficiencies, such as omega 3 fatty acids and B complex vitamins also result in dandruff. Citrus fruits are better avoided. Potential allergens are abstained from. Sea foods, dairy foods and related products are not recommended. Consumption of flaxseed oil is ideal, due to its high content of omega 3 fatty acids. This is helpful in overcoming a variety of skin conditions. Excessive sugar, slat and alcohol are abstained from. Animal foods are eliminated and replaced by beans, fresh vegetables and fruits. Meditation and yoga help in relieving stress, thereby reducing dandruff. A massage with tea tree oil relieves the associated flakiness and itch. For knowledge on the making of dandruff, visit a previously answered question.
