Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are a common condition in which the veins in the rectal canal and anus become swollen and inflamed. piles can be external in which the veins at the top of the rectal canal become infected, or they can be internal, in which the veins at the lower end of the rectal canal become infected. Piles do not hamper conception and will not interfere with the chances of conception. Piles may result from Constipation, due to the strain that is exerted in the passing of stools. Chronic cases of diarrhea, tumors in the bowel region and prostate diseases could also be factors leading to hemorrhoids. Piles tend to run in families and as such there may be a hereditary factor involved in the occurrence of weak veins. Medically, there are four types of piles. First degree piles, which are internal, develop inside of the rectal canal. Second degree piles may be seen only during bowel movements. Third degree piles may protrude at the time of bowel movements, but remain out until they are placed back inside. Fourth degree piles remain outside the anus and cannot be put back inside. Bleeding during bowel movements, pain and itching in the anal area are common symptoms of piles.
The fissures that occur due to hemorrhoids can be treated by applying a paste of bitter gourd root and water. The juice of the bitter gourd also helps to reduce the bleeding. The husk of tamarind seeds may be ground and consumed three times a day for alleviating the symptoms of piles. Consuming onion in the daily diet is also effective in treating inflammation that results from hemorrhoids. A soothing remedy for piles involves the application of aloe vera gel on the affected area twice a day. This will decrease itching, swelling and pain. You can also apply apple cider vinegar to the hemorrhoids with the help of a cotton ball.
Another useful home remedy for piles is to boil sesame seeds in water. After that mash the seeds and mix it with a little butter. Eat this daily for relief from bleeding piles. Eating figs that have been soaked for at least twelve hours daily will also help to give relief from painful hemorrhoids. It is important to stay away from hot and spicy foods when you are suffering from piles. Also refrain from eating foods that are likely to cause constipation. Consume fiber in your diet as this helps to maintain the soft consistency of the stools, thereby regulating proper bowel movements.
