Treatment For Sore Throat During Pregnancy
Whether you’re pregnant or not, it makes sense to cure that sore throat before it turns into a full blown cold. But if you are pregnant, you have limited options as you may not be able to take strong medicines. A pregnant lady has to think about the safety of the unborn child as well as her own health, and when medication options are less, either one ignores the sore throat or looks for healthier ways to curb it while one can. That’s when natural and healthy home remedies help.
Home Remedies
Try some of these. You can rummage around your kitchen for the ingredients.
- Prepare a pot of decaf tea and mix in a spoonful of lemon juice and another spoonful of honey. Mix well and drink the concoction while it is still hot. The mixture should be comfortably hot, so that you don’t burn your throat.
- Brew a mixture by boiling water with bits of ginger for some time. Then add tea leaves and mix some lime juice. The ginger will do a whole lot of good to your sore throat. You can even drop some Holy Basil leaves into the tea while it is brewing.
- Heat a mug of water and mix some salt into it. Saline water gargling can ease off a sore throat.
- If your throat is itchy and burning, you also need to keep yourself warm. Gather those woolies and knitted clothes and cover yourself well with scarves, sweaters and leggings. Snuggle into a blanket to avoid getting a cold.
- Also make yourself a pot of chicken soup or any other delicious soup. Keep drinking some of this hot soup every now and then to bring relief to the throat.
- Another home remedy that can actually do wonders – boil some water in a saucepan and drop Holy Basil leaves, peppercorn and chopped ginger. Simmer this for sometime. Add some homey to the mixture and drink it hot. Make enough to last you for a few days.
- You can also heat a cup of milk and add chopped ginger, turmeric powder and pepper to it. Drink this hot before you go to bed.
Tips:
- If you have a sore throat, then it is very probable that the common cold is on its way. So act quickly to prevent yourself from getting it.
- Try not to gulp that saline water after gargling.
- The water used for gargling should be comfortably hot because otherwise you might burn your throat.
- If the sore throat persists, consult your doctor.
