Know Your Body Systems

How many people actually know their body systems and the functions of those systems? Unless one studies it in college, one might forget what they are after high school. One should know the basic function of each system so as to know how their body works. A few of the systems would be the digestive, respiratory, immune, reproductive, and circulatory systems. Now, there are more systems, like the endocrine system, which controls glands and the hormone secretions. Also there is the urinary system which, logically, controls urine. The body is made up of several different systems which work together to keep the body working. The system of genetics allows a person to know their make up, where they came from and what they might develop as they grow older.
The function of many these systems are pretty self explanatory. The digestive system, which starts at the mouth and ends with the anus, helps the body to break down foods into nutrients and smaller pieces so the body can absorb them. The respiratory system provides oxygen to the blood so the body can operate. Of course, the immune system helps the body to fight infection, the reproductive basically ensures that we reproduce, and the circulatory system helps stuff get to and leave cells while keeping a bodies temperature stable. Every body system needs the other systems so the body will function properly. What point would there be in the respiratory system bring in air if there wasn't a circulatory system to move the oxygen to the other body parts. Let’s not forget the control panel of the body, the nervous system. This system basically sends signals to the rest of the body and systems so they know how to function. The nervous system also gets information from outside the body so the body can respond appropriately. In short, this system controls and manages all functions of the body.
It is important to know your body systems so you can know what a system is doing at any particular time. Knowing your body systems also help you to keep in tune with your body parts as they are integrated with each other. When one knows how their body works, one then has a better idea of how to keep it healthy. If you know your history, you then can predict how your system will work as you age. Knowing your body is the key to keeping it healthy.
