LOL! earlier when I submitted a remedy, I thought "Title" referred to My title as in "I'm married; therefore, i'll use "Mrs"!!Whatever my title, IBS is no laughing matter, and the stricter the diet is the better I feel!'nuff said.
Avoid Wheat and wheat products. Small meals, with fresh vegies and fruits. Absolutely no processed sugar.
Insoluble Fibre (All Bran, Bran Flakes, bran buds) actually made my IBS (constipation type) worse. I now eat mostly soluble fibre (oatmeal, oatbran, apples, psyillium) and minimal insoluble fibre and my constipation has improved dramatically. If fissures/hemmorhoids are an issue, warm sitz baths help.
I had chronic yeast in my intestines which caused all sorts of problems. Once I started using probiotics (good germs--most aren't stable at room temp.) the yeast had compitition and I felt much better. Also used flax seed to clean my intestines and still use it each day. I used to use lots of immodium. Wish I'd known the REAL cause of my problem years ago and had known about probiotics.
Immodium may work at first, it did for me, but now im immune to it, so it doesnt work at all, so be carefull and use it wisely
Citrocel has been a miracle for me. After eight years of chronic IBS, I started taking two scoops of Citrocel. . .one in the morning and one in the evening. I have an occasional occurance once or twice a month, but its a whole lot better than every day. I have been able to get my life back on track thanks to Citrocel!!!
IBS is more than just a little bit of diarrhea or constipation. OTC drugs may make symptoms worse for some people, so be careful! Eating a diet rich in whole grains was very helpful for me. Probably the best thing I did though, was go through my life and getting rid of or reducing stressers. Work on coping with stress. Excersise, meditation, hobbies, whatever works for you. Most importantly, since IBS is different for different people, don't give up trying to find out what works for your body.
Immodium? Works For Me 2 Tablets Per Week 1 on Monday & 1 On Thursday :)
It helps me with the cronic stomach pains. 4oz a day to begin, then later drink 8oz. Mix it with juice to dilute the flavor. I use bannana staberry juice from kerns.
I have had IBS for over 10 years. The bloating and diahhrea were nearly debilitating. I tried western medicine in the form of pills, but they didn't work. The only thing that's given me a normal life back is regular acupuncture. My insurance pays for it, and I've had a 'normal' gut since.
