Anxiety attacks the cognitive behavior of an individual. Anxiety, in course of time, develops into panic attacks that are feelings of fear that occur without any reason. Vitexin is the chemical compound, present in valerium, which is responsible for the soothing and relaxing effect. L-Theanine is another supplement used as a substitute for anti-anxiety drugs. Headaches, giddiness, palpitation, difficulty in sleeping, dry mouth, excessive perspiration and bloating are typical symptoms of anxiety. It is common in women than in men. Passion flower is an age old remedy used for sleeplessness and anxiety. Meditation, yoga, self-hypnosis and breathing exercises are of great help. Valerian herb is effective against insomnia and anxiety. A massage from a professional helps in relieving stress and muscle tension. Sleep is also improved. Usage of essential massage oils such as sandalwood, lavender, bergamot, jasmine, cypress, rose and jasmine are rejuvenating. Supplementation of B vitamins, pantothenic acid, magnesium and calcium are recommended. GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) containing drugs help in suppressing the GABA receptors, thereby reducing the anxiety levels.
