Signs & Symptoms of Diverticulitis


The signs and symptoms of diverticulitis may continue for a few hours or may persist for many days. These symptoms include:

  • Abdominal cramps
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Chills
  • Fever
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Loss of appetite
Conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome or urinary tract infections may lead to similar symptoms. More severe symptoms such as sudden weight loss and rectal bleeding may be indicative of colon cancer and require immediate medical care.
