Diet for Muscular Dystrophy
There are some exercises for muscular dystrophy, which can reduce the progression of curvatures and increase joint mobility. These exercises and physical therapy depend on the type of muscular dystrophy and the extent to which it has progressed.
A healthy diet can go a long way in slowing down the progression of the disease and preventing any complications that may arise out of it. Since the muscles are made of protein, it is important to have a healthy intake of proteins. This will help regenerate muscles better and prevent their replacement with fats and connective tissues. Consume generous amounts of lean meats or leaner cuts. You may also add vegetarian sources of proteins such as soybean and dairy products in your diet. However, always discuss your diet with your doctor or a dietician before you begin to follow it. Avoid refined foods and foods which may contain a lot of preservatives, added flavors and other chemicals. Food allergies aggravate the condition and therefore it is best to avoid any foods which may cause you allergies.
Green tea is rich in antioxidants and therefore is very healthy for those who are suffering from muscular dystrophy. Green tea offers healthy protection from infections by raising your immunity and preventing the body from succumbing to infection. However, do not consume green teas in excess as this can be detrimental to your health.
