It is important to know what is causing dry mouth before you begin to try and treat it yourself. If it is something like a side effect of any medication or treatment that you are undergoing, then simply stopping that medication or getting an alternative for it could be enough to solve this problem. If it is something like nerve damage caused due to some sort of injury, you would need to get this problem reversed or repaired. If it is something like dehydration, then you can simply increase your water intake to solve the problem. This would have to be done slowly, however. It is not possible to suddenly start consuming large quantities of water one fine day. Try to have a glass every other hour. That itself is a good beginning.
You would also need to cut down on your intake of fizzy drinks, as they tend to dry up your mouth considerably. Increase your intake of fruits, which provide natural water to the body and will also help to retain water. Fruits with pits are better, since sucking on fruit pits helps generate more saliva. You can also chew sugar free gum for the same effect. Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco, as this will always lead to the salivary glands depleting in production of saliva.
