The burning and itching caused by shingles can be relieved by trying out a variety of home remedies. But you need to keep in mind that all solutions would only provide relief, and not take away the burning and itching, as this is part of the healing process. For instant relief, apply ice cubes to numb your arms to the pain. Alternatively, you can also apply thick layers of chilled and creamy milk to your arms and keep rubbing it in. About 100 grams of white butter with a teaspoon of turmeric powder worked into it and applied to your arms will ease the burning sensation and help with healing as well.
Applying warm olive oil to your arms will also help reduce the burning. However, this will take a week or so to work. You can also apply whole milk yogurt to your arms. This will also help with the burning sensation. A paste of sandalwood powder and rose water applied to your hands will help soothe the burning as well as take care of the itching sensation. Let this solution dry and then dust it off. The best thing to do is apply this at night. It will mess your sheets, but will leave behind a wonderful fragrance too.
