Natural remedy for uti in toddlers

Urinary tract infections are extremely common and both men and women are equally prone to experiencing urinary tract infections. Female toddlers are also extremely prone to developing urinary tract infections due to poor hygiene and irregular diets. Usually, women also get a second UTI after being treated for the first one. UTI causes pain in the lower back, chills, fever and occasional blood in the urine as well. There is frequent urination and a burning sensation after passing urine.

Fortunately, there are many home remedies for UTI infection. Urinary tract infection home treatment should usually only be resorted to after discussing with a doctor. Since mistreatment of the infection may cause damage to the kidneys, it is best to get a doctor's opinion before you turn to home remedies for UTI infection.

Here are some of the most popular home remedies for UTI infection:

  • If your child is experiencing an infection, adding baking soda to a glass of water and making them drink it is the best of all UTI home cures. This usually prevents the infection from spreading any further.
  • Blueberry or cranberry juice is one of the best UTI natural remedy. Give your child undiluted and unsweetened juice of either blueberry or cranberry. This helps in making the blood acidic and kills off all the bacteria that are attacking the bladder. 2-4 glasses of the juice can help you get rid of the urinary tract infection within a few days.
  • Pineapple is another one of the best natural remedies for bladder infection. The enzyme bromelain contained in the fruit is antagonistic towards the bacteria which cause urinary tract infection. Eating a cup of pineapple every day can help you keep a check on your urinary tract infection and can prevent it from occurring again. You can add pineapple and syrup to yoghurt and offer it to your child, who will most likely eat it with great delight.
  • If your child has urinary tract infection, be sure that they drink plenty of water. Encourage your child to consume at least 8-10 glasses of water a day so that the bacteria that cause the infection can be flushed out. This is the best and safest of all home remedies for UTI infection.
  • If your child's UTI has remained for longer than 2 days, it is time to visit the doctor and get medications. Since the home remedies for UTI infection are not working, it is best to seek medical help.
