Home remedies for inner nose infection

Our nose contains protective lining of hair that can prevent any kind of dust or infection from settling down in the nostrils. However certain viral infections, allergens like pollen, animal hair or pollutants like chemical fumes, toxic fumes or strong cleaning agents can damage the lining of nasal cavity, thus causing inflammation. This can lead to increase in mucous formation in nasal passage thus blocking the sinus. Bacteria tend to grow leading to infection. Increase in mucous formation can also lead to sinus.

Treatments that can bring relief from nose infection are:-

  • Taking steam occasionally can be helpful. Take hot water steam with towel covered over the head. This would direct the steam into the nose. This can bring relief from stuffy nose and can make breathing easy. Using medicated steam like menthol or eucalyptus can be helpful.
  • Nasal infection can occur due to poor immune system. Echinacea and golden seal are useful for improving the immune system of the body.
  • Nasal irrigators can be useful in opening up the sinuses. Use warm water for the nasal irrigators. However, many people may find using nasal irrigators uncomfortable.
  • Lemon balm is an anti viral and anti bacterial herb. It is soothing and has a good taste. It can be consumed in the form of tea up to 3 -4 times a day.
  • Peppermint oil can provide temporary relief from stuffiness and can treat hoarse throat as well.
  • Suffering from cold for several days can lead to sinus problems. Drink plenty of water as it will prevent the mucous from being sticky and can clear the nasal passages.
