what's a remedy for a black eye

A simple bruise on your eye may turn an ugly black color and may be a source of embarrassment when you are in the company of your friends or in a social gathering. Our eyes are very delicate, and it is not necessary for someone to punch you for you to get a black eye. Bruising on any part of your body usually runs its full course before first healing completely. This might mean that till the time your eye heals completely, you may have to squint, or worse still, not be able to use your bruised eye.

Fortunately, you could use a black eye treatment to speed up the healing process of this rather painful bruise. Before you turn to any kind of home remedies, however, it is best to consult a doctor to check for any kind of damage that may be caused by the blow to the eye.

Black eye is usually caused by the internal bleeding and hemorrhaging. The area surrounding the eyes contains many delicate blood vessels and when they receive an injury or a trauma, they may burst or get damaged. To stop this internal bleeding, it is important to make sure that hemorrhaging does not occur. The use of a hot or a cold compress is usually the best black eye treatment.

If you have broken skin around your eye and blood is oozing out, the best way to stop it is to use a cold compress. Wrap some ice cubes into a towel and simply apply it to your injured eye. The bleeding will eventually stop and blood will begin to clot. After cleaning the cut, continue to apply a cold compress to it.

If there is no bleeding, but the eye begins to swell, this is an indication of internal bleeding and hemorrhaging. You could use a hot compress to deal with this. Simply soak a soft wash cloth in warm water and use it to warm your eyes. The warmth from the wash cloth will help improve the blood circulation and will also ease the inflammation. Apart from this superficial black eye treatment, another excellent treatment for black eye is vitamin C. Vitamin C helps in increasing the repair of the damaged blood vessels so that circulation can resume normally. This is perhaps one of the best black eye remedies and can help speed the recovery up by a few days. This black eye treatment could be used simultaneously along with the hot and cold compresses. One should remember that no matter what you do, treatment for black eye requires time and it would take at least a few days for the eye to heal completely.
