How to immediately stop a toothache

A toothache is a very painful condition that everyone experiences at some point in their life. Tooth pain or a tooth ache refers to any pain that is felt around one's jaws or teeth. Such kind of pain is usually caused due to an irritation of a tooth's nerve root. The main causes of tooth aches are jaw or tooth problems namely; dental cavity, cracked tooth, gum disease, infection and so on. A toothache is brought about when the pulp, which is the central part of the tooth, gets inflamed. This pulp is made up of nerve endings which are extremely sensitive to any sensation of pain. Infection, trauma and dental cavities could all result in an inflammation of the pulp which then leads to a toothache. A toothache could be constant, shooting, throbbing or sharp.

Some of the symptoms of this condition are; pain while chewing, sensitivity to hot or cold substances, discharge or bleeding from around the gums or tooth, and swelling of the gums. Take a few drops of clove oil and gently massage it into the gum surrounding the affected tooth. This treatment should be performed twice a day in order to reduce pain. Alternatively, you could also chew on a piece of clove with the affected tooth, so that the juice is released into it. In the same manner, chewing on a small piece of ginger 3-4 times a day will also help in alleviating the tooth ache considerably. Clove oil that has been mixed with a pinch of pepper powder can also be applied on the affected tooth to reduce pain.

A toothache is an indication of tooth decay, a cavity or mouth bacteria. It is a very common but unbearable problem. It occurs mainly due to the consumption of refined sugar and carbohydrates in all forms. The bacteria in our mouth, breaks the sugar down into acids that combine with the calcium in the enamel resulting in erosion or decay. If the decayed tooth is not treated well, it may necessitate the extraction of the tooth.

To get instant relief from a toothache try compressing the affected area with ice. Ice serves as an excellent way to numb the nerve endings. But if the pain remains, discontinue the process. If the aching tooth is a molar at the back of your mouth then you can gently bite down on a cotton ball that has been soaked in garlic oil to relieve pain. Leave it there for as long as you can. Applying garlic is another effective way to treat an aching tooth. A garlic clove with a little salt should be applied on the affected tooth. It not only helps in reducing the pain instantly but also helps curing it. Chewing a clove every morning would keep your teeth healthy and strong. You can prevent a whole lot of tooth problems if you consume one raw onion everyday. Chewing on a raw onion for about three minutes is sufficient to remove all the germs from our mouth. A small piece of onion can also be placed on the bad tooth or gum to reduce the pain. A mixture of pepper powder and a quarter tsp of salt serve as an excellent dentifrice. Using it on a daily basis would prevent foul breath, dental cavities, bleeding and painful gums.

Applying clove oil to the affected tooth would eliminate any risk of infection and also reduce the pain. Proper cleansing of your teeth and gums is very important for maintaining oral hygiene. An effective way of preventing tooth decay would be to brush your teeth at least twice a day, rinse your mouth in regular intervals and floss them few times a week to get rid of food particles or residue lodged in between the teeth. Toothaches require treatment immediately. The above remedies would help you through the excruciating pain at that moment but will not cure the main problem. After the initial pain subsides, you will have to visit the dentist for further treatment.
