What Do You Do If There Is A Piece Of Glass Glass Stuck Under The Skin? Suggest Some Home Remedies.

In order to know how to get glass out of skin one needs to first remove any plaster that they may have put on the wound as this will cover the wound up and may result in it getting festered. Additionally in case the slivers of glass are embedded in ones skin then one needs to be careful that the glass under the skin does not get pushed even further into the skin. This is necessary as one should not leave any fragment of the glass in the skin while removing it out as this may lead to an infection. In order to remove glass from the skin which may be slivers of glass embedded in ones foot as well, one needs to first ascertain the exact point from where the glass has entered the skin. If the area is slightly swollen and red only then, it is not a major cause for concern. Thereafter one is required to wash the area well with some water and soap. Once the wound has been cleaned properly and thoroughly one should then put some turmeric as a home remedy for preventing any bacterial infection. Else one may also apply some antibacterial ointment that is commercially available. This should be allowed to remain on the wound for at least an hour. Methods on how to remove glass from the skin are many.

If the glass stuck under the skin or in the foot is visible and is protruding out of the skin then one may require to first sterilize a pair of tweezers with some alcohol. Then one should gently pinch the sliver of glass close to the skin and use the sterilized tweezers to finally remove it as carefully as possible. However one should ensure that one does not accidentally break the sliver of glass resulting in fragments of the glass remaining in the skin an causing further complications. If the area of skin that is punctured has swelled up a lot and has become yellowish in color then one should immediately consult a doctor rather than try any treatment at home which is true even in the case of glass stuck in the heel of a person. There are various natural methods available to remove broken glass particles from ones head or even from under the skin which mainly depend on the size of the sliver of glass as well as how deeply embedded in the skin the piece of glass was. If the piece of glass that is stuck in the skin is of medium size then one may use some scotch tape or duct tape to remove the glass piece. In this method, one needs to place the tape over the area where the glass piece has entered the skin. This tape should be allowed to remain on the skin for a short while. Thereafter one is required to gently press over the tape ensuring that the piece of glass has some part that is stuck to the tape. Once this is ascertained, one is required to remove the tape gently and along with the tape the piece of glass that is stuck under the skin will also come out.

In case there are two or three pieces of glass embedded in the skin, then one may repeat this process till all the pieces of glass are removed. One of easier ways of using duct tape to remove slivers of glass from under the skin is to first soak the area in some water that has been mixed with Epsom salts or hydrogen peroxide or just some plain warm water and then use the duct tape. In cases where the piece of glass is stuck very deep into the skin then one can try and remove this piece of glass with some tweezers. One may also try an insert a needle gently close to where the glass is embedded in the skin and then try and extract the piece of glass. In order to locate the glass that is under the skin one may also use a magnifying glass. However care should be taken that the needle or the tweezers one uses have been thoroughly sterilized before use so as to avoid any possible infection. Another one of the home remedies to remove the glass from the skin is to try and pop the piece of glass out in a manner that is similar to popping a pimple. Although this may be painful it is quite effective. After the glass has been removed from the skin one may apply some alcohol to the concerned area so as to avoid any possible infection.

If one has put a band aid on the area where the glass has entered the skin then one needs to remove that completely as covering up the area will make it a breeding ground for bacteria that will further complicate the situation. One of the oldest and most effective remedies for removal of a piece of glass form under the skin is to put a piece of bacon on the area with the splinter and allow it to remain overnight. By morning, in most cases, it is observed that piece of glass has been removed. This because bacon contains a lot of salt and this salt tends to absorb moisture from the skin and in most cases along with the moisture it also draws out the sliver of glass. However if the piece of glass that is embedded in the skin has wedged itself into the skin horizontally then it is best advised to visit a doctor to remove this piece of glass from the skin as one may cut the skin further while trying to remove the glass. Glass embedded in the head is a medical emergency and therefore methods on how to remove glass broken particles from the head are best known by a qualified doctor. Similarly one may also apply some glue on the area with the glass piece and then allow it to dry. Once the glue has dried off completely one should pull the glue off sharply which will result in the glass piece also coming out along with the glue. In cases where the glass sliver or even a splinter of wood is causing a lot of pain, one may use ice to numb the area and aid removal of the glass piece.

Natural Cures for skin injury

Firstly get rid of the plaster as the wound may fester with the lack of oxygen. A plaster left on an injury for more than a day is bad news in itself. Removing slivers from beneath the skin is an arduous task and one has to be careful that the sliver does not get further pushed in or that remnant of the fragment may cause infection. Take a closer look at the area where the foreign object has entered. If the wound is slightly red and swollen then it may not be a cause of concern yet.

Wash the area well with soap and water. A tiny puncture in the skin can harbor bacteria and the covered plaster is a good breeding ground for lingering bacteria to grow. Once the wound has been thoroughly cleaned, apply a drop of antibacterial ointment or a little turmeric that has been freshly ground. Let it stay on for an hour. If the piece is visible and is sticking out from under the skin then you will need to primarily sterilize a pair of tweezers with some alcohol. Gently pinch the piece close to the skin and pull out the piece with the tweezers as carefully as you can. However if the punctured area is swollen with a yellowish appearance then you may need to seek medical advice.

The method of removing the glass would depend upon the size of the piece, the manner in which it got under your skin, and the depth at which it is in your skin. If the piece is not very large, you can use scotch tape or duct tape to remove it. Apply the tape firmly over the site of the embedded glass and allow the tape to remain on your skin for a little while. You should then rub the duct tape firmly over the affected area to ensure that the glass gets stuck to the tape. Pull the tape off in a slow and gentle manner. The glass shards should be extracted from your skin once your repeat the process a couple of times. Removing the band-aid that you have applied should also serve the same purpose.

You can also apply some glue over the area in which the glass is embedded. Once the glue is dry, sharply pull off the glue to extract the splinters. Commercially available body wax can also be used to remove the glass. If you are unable to see the splinters, apply food color on the affected area to distinguish the splinters and then use any of the methods above to remove them. If you are unable to remove the glass particles by yourself, you should go at once to a doctor and get the particles removed before they move into the blood stream and result in any damage.
