Remedies for Endometriosis
In Endometriosis, tissue similar to that found in lining of the uterus is found elsewhere in the body - ovaries, fallopian tubes, pelvic area and rectal-vaginal septum. It can also occur in caesarian-section scars, laparoscopy scars, and on the bladder, bowel, intestines, colon, appendix, and rectum. Endometriosis primarily manifests itself in pelvic pain, which can correspond with the menstrual cycle but not always. Painful, the condition can sometimes be so severe that it affects the entire lifestyle of the patient. In certain advanced cases, it may lead to scarring of internal organs as well as fusing of tissues which leads to a condition also known as "frozen pelvis." Endometriosis has also known to lead to infertility. Unfortunately the exact cause of Endometriosis has not yet been defined and thus treatment is based on individual needs and other factors like symptoms, age and fertility requirements.
While medication is the very first thing advised to combat Endometriosis, the complicated nature of the problem calls for alternate therapies as well. Physiotherapy helps immensely to strengthen the pelvic muscles and consequently reduce the pain and anxiety related to the condition. This is particularly helpful, in case surgery has been opted to eliminate the endometriosis lesions, cysts and adhesions. Obesity increases estrogen levels and thus the chances of endometriosis, so lose an excess weight and stay as fit as possible. In addition it is extremely important to have a correct nutritional program, rich in Vitamin C to increase immunity which improves the general health and thus makes it easier to cope with the situation. Finally for relief from the pain, try heat or cold therapy to relax the muscles.
