Dry skin and dry feet are usually a sign of malnutrition and inadequate intake of water. It could also be due to the use of skin products that are not of a good quality or do not suit your skin. The first thing to do to prevent dry, itchy feet is to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water and maintain a diet rich in Vitamin E, Calcium, zinc and Omega-3 fatty acids. Have a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain cereals and nuts, meat, chicken and particularly fish, crabs and oysters. Apart from that, follow a strict regime of cleansing and moisturising your feet daily.
Soak your feet in a bucket of warm water with a few drops of shampoo and hydrogen peroxide for 15 to 20 minutes to get rid of the dirt and soften your feet. After patting your feet dry, slough off the dry skin and moisturise generously. You can also apply a mixture of 1 teaspoon Vaseline and juice on 1 lemon overnight to heal dry, cracked feet. Alternately apply a mixture of glycerine and rose water. Application of the pulp of ripe mashed banana for around 10 minutes also helps to soften and moisturise feet naturally. Apart from this any hydrogenated vegetable oil or even fresh cream applied on the feet and left overnight helps to cure dry itchy feet. Remember to wear socks before going to bed or else you'll soil your sheet!
