Treatment for Sun Burns
The most common swimming pool affliction is a type of chemical dermatitis commonly referred to as Pool rash. Chlorine kills bacteria, yeasts and parasites and so it is added to swimming pools. Although this helps to prevent various infections, prolonged exposure to chlorine can cause a skin rash. If the level of chlorine in the water is higher than it should be or if your skin is bruised or broken, your chances of getting Pool rash are significantly higher. Very often it is the facial skin that shows the maximum effects of this rash as the skin on the face is a lot thinner and a lot more sensitive. You can apply a moisturizer that contains Aloe Vera gel as it is extremely soothing and will help to ease the swelling. It is unlikely that you have an infection, as you have not experienced any itching. However, I would advise you to use a broad spectrum anti-fungal and anti-bacterial cream.
In future, use an anti-bacterial soap to shower before and after your swim. Use a good rash guard that will prevent chlorine in the water from coming in contact with your skin. Do not use your every day sunscreen lotion when going swimming. Make sure that you use a sunscreen that has a high SPF and is water-proof.
