Treatment for diarrhea is quite simple - you need to rest and to replace the fluids and salts that your body has lost. As long as your condition is not too serious and does not last longer than two days, no other treatment is needed. It is important to avoid taking any anti diarrhea medications unless these have been prescribed by your doctor. The diarrhea is your body's way of getting rid of something that is harmful to it, and by blocking this reaction, you will only prolong the agony and make things worse. Instead, let your body purge itself of whatever has upset it, and in the meanwhile, replenish the lost fluids and salts. A good way to do this is to prepare a home made saline solution by adding a half a teaspoon of salt and two or three teaspoons of sugar to a bottle of water. You should drink this solution several times a day, depending on the severity of the diarrhea.
If you prefer, you can also drink fresh fruit juices. Solid food should be avoided at least for a couple of days, but foods such as yogurt are usually safe. If you feel up to it, you can even have a light soup - be sure not to add any sauces or spices to it though.
