You have not mentioned the cause of your stomach pain or whether it is a recurring pain or not. Stomach pain can be temporary and acute or sharp and recurrent with sharp, dull or colicky kind of pain that could be in different areas of your stomach like the left lower quadrant, left upper quadrant, right upper quadrant and the right lower quadrant. Stomach pain can be caused due to several reasons like indigestion, acidity, gas, infection, poor eating habits, unhealthy diet, eating refined and processed junk food, strong medicines that affect the internal lining of the stomach, food poisoning, injury, etc. You would need to determine the cause of your stomach pain and then treat it accordingly. If the pain is due to indigestion then try drinking some warm water to get the food moving and for proper bowel movements. If the pain is recurring then you would need to see a doctor for a medical check up. The doctor would prescribe suitable medicines after a check up. A few general things to keep in mind to prevent stomach pain are: To drink sufficient water throughout the day, at least 8 to 10 glasses of it. Fluids keep your system hydrated and help in proper digestive functions. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables, as these will provide enough roughage and will ensure smooth bowel movements preventing stomach pain related to indigestion. Avoid eating refined and highly processed junk foods as they have no roughage at all and will only make your problem worse.
Besides this you may try the following remedies at home to treat mild stomach ache:
- If you have a stomach upset, then take a teaspoon of caraway or coriander seeds with a cup of hot water.
- Grate a small piece of fresh ginger and strain to remove some juice. Apply this fresh juice on your stomach in the area where you experience pain and lie down for some time. This is an excellent home remedy for curing stomach pain.
- Take a teaspoon each of fresh lemon juice and mint juice and add half a teaspoon of fresh ginger juice to it along with a pinch of black salt. Drink this mixture and follow up with a glass of warm water after 5 to 10 minutes. This is very effective in stomach pain caused due to gas or indigestion.
- Make a cup of fresh lemon tea and add a little bit of honey to taste. Drink this warm to relieve your stomach pain.
