Midnight eating is a major cause of concern. The later you eat the more problems you create for your digestive system. The sooner you eat your dinner, the better it is for your digestion. You should drink milk or snack on fruits in case you are hungry in the night. If you consume heavy foods, it would disrupt your normal digestion process. Mid night snacking may also be an indication that your digestive system is not functioning properly. Give some rest to your stomach in case you notice any pain or swelling.
Abdominal pain is the pain originating from the organs in the abdominal cavity. This pain may be due to inflammation, swelling, or stretching of an organ. Sometimes, even loss of blood to any organ could cause abdominal pain. One more major reason for abdominal pain can be irritable bowel syndrome. The contractions of the intestinal muscles or sensitive nerves in the intestines may cause abdominal pain. Sometimes, a patient may also experience abdomen muscle pain. The nature of pain is very similar to chronic abdominal pain.
A doctor may determine the cause of chronic abdomen pain by physical examination, clinical examination, and the characteristics of the pain. Abdominal pain can range from a mild stomach ache to severe pain. Some disturbance in the digestive system may also cause chronic abdomen pain.
There are several diseases which could cause chronic abdomen pain. They are gastritis, appendicitis, gall bladder disease, ulcers, infections, and kidney problems. You should seek medical care if the pain persists for more than six hours and keeps getting worse. If the pain is accompanied by vomiting, vaginal bleeding, or fever, you should consult your doctor immediately for proper treatment. Chronic abdomen pain should be treated in time and not left ignored for a long time.
Many women feel discomfort in the lower abdomen during menstruation. In many cases it becomes difficult to identify the actual cause. Pain originating from the urinary system may indicate Cystitis or a kidney stone. The typical symptoms include a burning sensation when passing the urine, a need to empty the bladder more frequently, and severe pain in the abdomen. These symptoms may also cause low abdomen pain.
Constipation, diarrhea, and bowel problems may also give rise to severe pain. Based on the urine reports and blood reports, the doctor will start the treatment. If the abdominal pain is caused by irritable bowel syndrome or gastritis, the doctor will advise to give rest to your stomach for a while till the pain subsides. He or she will also advise you to avoid any intake of solid foods and to keep yourself hydrated at all times. In case the abdominal pain is due to bacterial infection, the doctor may give you antibiotics. Sometimes, improper digestion may lead to pain below the abdomen. It is advisable to visit a doctor to know the exact cause. Surgery may be advised in case of severe conditions

Stomach pain can be caused due to a large number of reasons. Unfortunately, as you have not been more specific, it is difficult to determine what the problem is exactly. Furthermore, details such as intensity of the pain, frequency, whether or not it is accompanied by heartburn and so on, would help in ascertaining the condition effectively. Indigestion, ulcers, excessive gas, gallbladder inflammations, chronic constipation, food poisoning and appendicitis, could all cause stomach pain. However, here are a few home remedies that can help in treating stomach pain. Crush a handful of fresh mint leaves and then extract the juice. Now, mix together a teaspoon of this juice, with a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Add a dash of black salt and 3-4 drops of fresh ginger root juice to it. The resultant mixture, if had on a daily basis, is known to reduce stomach pain. Grate a small piece of ginger root so as to extract its juice. Massage a few drops of this juice on your stomach. This remedy will also prove to be helpful.
Soak a teaspoon each of fennel seeds and black currents in half a liter of water. Now, set this mixture aside, preferably overnight. The following morning, mash the fennel seeds and the black currents in the water that they have been soaked in. Add a half a teaspoon of sugar to this. Consume this concoction every morning, for a week or two. Mix together equal quantities of rock salt, garlic, asafetida, coriander, mint leaves (dried), cumin seeds (roasted), black pepper and ginger. Grind all the items together, so as to form a fine powder. After every meal, have a teaspoon of this powder with a glass of lukewarm water. This is a popular remedy that is used for dealing with stomach pain.
Ginger tea is also considered to be beneficial, when it comes to treating stomach or abdominal pain. Sipping on two cups of warm ginger tea daily will help in alleviating pain to quite a considerable extent. Do not eat heavy meals before your bedtime, try and keep them as light as possible. Wait for at least an hour or two before you go to bed. This will facilitate the digestion process while also preventing the stomach fluids from flowing back up into the esophagus. If none of these remedies work and the pain persists, then consulting your physician would be recommended.
