Home remedies for sweaty underarms

Our body releases sweat to keep the body temperature under check. However, heavy sweating can be embarrassing. Excessive sweating can happen because of medical problems or hormonal imbalances. If you want to get to the bottom of your sweating problem and are looking for ways of combating the sweating, then here are some tips to help you.

  • Find out what could be the reason behind the sweating. Check if you have a family history, wear clothes that trap sweat, are overweight, have some health problems, or hormonal imbalance. Visit a doctor to get a physical checkup done, and to pinpoint the cause of excessive sweating.
  • Buy a deodorant that is alum based as alum is known to minimize body odor and control sweating. You can try rubbing alum crystals under your arms.
  • Try patting your underarms with talcum powder to absorb the moisture.
  • Take a bath frequently or wash your armpits regularly to keep the area clean and bacteria-free.
  • You may want to turn to your kitchen for more home remedies. lime juice and apple cider vinegar are known to control sweating. Of course, when you do this, make sure that you do not have any scrapes or cuts in your armpits. You can apply one of these in the evening and wash off in the morning.
  • You can drink a lot of water to flush out the toxins from your body. This could control the odor in your sweat.
  • Try shaving your underarms. A lot of times, the hair traps sweat and bacteria, and even increases the amount of sweating in the armpits. Clean, hair-free underarms can decrease the sweat.
  • If you are overweight and the sweating is because of this, then try to lose some weight. A combination of healthy diet and exercise can help to control the sweating. Include fewer spices in your cooking, drink lots of water and formulate a daily exercise plan to feel better and sweat less.
  • You can try wearing cotton clothes, instead of garments made with synthetic fiber. Cotton is a material that helps the skin breathe, while nylon and synthetic clothes trap the sweat.
  • If you sweat more because of nervousness or stress, then try stress-relieving activities such as yoga, meditation and pranayam. Listen to soothing music, take up a creative hobby, spend time with your loved ones, and look at the larger perspective of life.
