Dehydration simply means the absence of water. So, in the simplest terms the best remedy is water. However, when the body loses water, often the electrolytes and nutrients are severely imbalanced. This creates stress on many organ systems, including the kidneys, heart, central nervous system etc. If heat stroke and heat exhaustion are involved, there may be different required therapies. So, depending upon the severity of the dehydration, a hospital visit for an IV infusion of sugar and electrolytes may be necessary. The simplest solution may be to gradually drink more water. Emergence (and similar products) can be helpful to replenish minerals and electrolytes which may be slightly out of balance. Prevention would be to ensure you are drinking at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces of pure/filtered water each day.
