Causes and remedy for dry pimples

Pimples are inflamed lesions caused by the blockage of pores of the skin. The skin has glands that secrete an oil called sebum which comes to the surface of the skin through pores in the skin. Sometimes dead skin cells in the pores stick to the sebum and form a blockage. Bacteria within the pores start to reproduce and the infection causes a raised bump commonly called a pimple. People with oily skin are more prone to getting pimple outbreaks. A person who suffers from such outbreaks regularly is said to have acne.

People with dry or normal skin are not prone to acne because their bodies produce a much smaller quantity of sebum. When the pores of a person with dry skin get blocked, it invariably causes a small scab-like protrusion which is not inflamed. This would look like a dried up pimple but the main cause for this appearance is the lack of sebum which deprives the bacteria within the pore its nourishment. As a result of this, the amount of sebum and bacteria within a blocked pore of a person with dry skin is very low.

Although this type of acne does not cause huge inflamed pimples, it is still a problem. You will need to follow a regular skin care schedule and diet to get rid of this problem It is better to avoid cosmetic products meant for acne as most of them contain chemicals used as preservatives, dyes and perfumes. You can use a medicated cream that contains either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. However, these treatments often cause undue skin irritation and excessive drying. Make sure that you visit a dermatologist before you start any treatment. You regular skin care schedule should consist of a face wash twice a day, a facial scrub every alternate day and a face pack and facial once or twice a month. You can use natural ingredients such as fuller's earth, honey, gram flour, tomato juice and lemon juice to make your own homemade skin care products.

There are also several natural methods that you can use to protect your skin from pimples. Rinse your face with a solution made out of equal parts of warm water and lemon juice. Rinse your face well with cold water after that. Apply a little fresh garlic juice and allow it to dry. Leave this on overnight and wash your face as usual the next morning. Garlic has strong bactericidal properties and helps to treat and prevent pimples. You can also use mint juice or orange juice instead of the garlic juice.
