Advice and cure for uti

A Urinary Tact Infection (UTI) is generally caused when infection or inflammation causing bacteria enter the urine producing system in your body. Urinary Tract Infections have been known to affect millions of men and women, of all ages, across the globe. Studies reveal that this is the second most common infection that is caused in the human body. Even though, it is a common problem, when such an infection occurs in men, it can be quite serious. The organs that are a part of the urinary tract are the kidneys, the bladder, ureters and the urethra. However, at times, bacteria may multiply at a rapid rate and could travel from the bladder to the other organs, infecting them too. Therefore, in some people, especially young infants or children, bowel movements problems may occur, due to a UTI.

Natural Cures for UTI

Getting the right and timely treatment for UTI is very important, to prevent the infection from spreading to other parts of the body. Doctors usually treat a UTI with antibiotics and anti-bacterial drugs. In case the infection has spread too far, hospitalization may also be required. Although there are many ways of treating a urinary tract infection, most people prefer adopting natural cures for UTI, as they are considered safer and are believed to have fewer side effects. Given below, are some of the most commonly used natural cures for UTI:

  • Apple cider vinegar: This is one of the most common alternatives to prescription medication, as it contains high levels of the enzymes, which prevent the UTI causing bacteria to multiply and spread to other areas. Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, to a glass of water (8 ounces) and drink the mixture up to three times a day. To make this mixture more palatable, you could also add a teaspoon on honey to it.
  • Clothing: To cure a UTI, it is important to wear loose clothing, since tight clothes and especially tight underwear can cause the bacteria and the infection to spread.
  • Diet: In order to prevent UTI from spreading because of improper diet and bowel movements, it is important to follow a diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals. Moreover, drinking a lot of water is an effective way of flushing out the toxins.
  • Hygienic measures: Never control the urge to urinate, for too long. When you do urinate, make sure that you empty your bladder completely. After women finish urinating, they should always wipe themselves, from the front to the back and not the other way around.

Besides these natural cures for UTI, one could also use medically prescribed drugs to treat the infection. While treating urinary tract infections, the types of drug that is used, as well as the duration of the treatment generally depend on the severity of the infection, along with the patient’s health and medical history.

Urinary tract infections are one of the most common infections that plague women. Every year, millions of women suffer from this infection and experience the pain and discomfort associated with this infection. The nature of this infection makes it extremely private and sometimes embarrassing. This is also why a lot of women ignore the infection and fail to get the right treatment at the right time. At the onset, UTI is not very dangerous. Neither are the symptoms very dangerous. However, if ignored and prolonged, UTI can affect the entire urinary tract and finally infect the kidneys too.

There are several home remedies that can be used to cure this condition however, if you are not able to treat this on your own, it is best to get medical treatment as soon as possible. Women in the age group of 20 to 50 are the most susceptible to this infection. Though UTI are most common in women, men and children are also susceptible to this infection. Women are more prone to this infection because of the short urethra. Also mostly, bacteria from the anal region are the cause of these infections. The short distance between the anus and the vagina causes the bacteria to get transmitted.

The bacteria that cause this disorder are usually E. Coli and Staphylococcus. This bacterium is able to live in the bladder because of poor drainage or low hygiene. When the bacterium multiplies inside the bladder, its count increases and infection spreads. It is important therefore to make sure that the bacteria is not allowed to breed or in fact reach the vagina. While wiping yourself, always wipe from front to back instead of the other way round. After any sexual activity, the bladder should be emptied otherwise the infection could spread due to sexual contact. Try to pass urine as soon as it comes instead of postponing it. The bacteria can breed when proper drainage of bladder is absent.

To remedy urinary tract infection at home, try using a mixture of half teaspoon baking soda in about a glass of water. Baking soda helps urine to regain its acidic balance and eliminate any bacteria that might be present in the bladder. With that, also drink a lot of water and fluids so that a proper flow of urine is maintained and the bacteria and toxins keep flushing out. Cranberry juice is also considered a very good remedy for urinary tract infection. The juice helps cleanse the bladder of any bacteria that might have clung to the wall.

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) affects the urinary tract. The urinary tract comprises of the kidney, urinary bladder, ureter and urethra. The symptoms of UTI include pain while urinating, urge to urinate frequently, blood in urine and sever abdominal pain and discomfort. UTI infections do not affect the bowel; it is the other way around. Excreta containing bacteria released from the bowels enter the urethra causing Urinary Tract Infection.

The disease causing germs or bacteria can also enter the bladder and kidneys causing more severe reactions such as fever, vomiting and abdominal pain. Women are more prone to such infections due to the close proximity between the urethra and the anus. Cystitis is one such type of infection mainly found among women. Pregnant women are also more likely to be affected by this condition.  Diagnosis of the urine sample is a measure to understand the severity of damage exerted by the bacteria.

Mild to moderate Urinary Tract Infections can be treated and prevented. Prevention is an important aspect of treatment given that such condition can recur within short intervals. Urinary Tract Infection can be treated with simple home remedies such as drinking a mixture of half a teaspoon of baking soda with eight ounce glass of water. Drinking cranberry juice or cranberry extracts also reduces the chance of bacteria entering the urinary tract. Blueberries are equally helpful in juice or fresh form. Bromelain enzyme found in pineapples is also known to treat Urinary Tract Infection .Applying hot compresses or heating pads on painful areas can also help relieve the pain, though temporarily.

There are various herbs that increase the amount of urine thus helping flush out the toxins or bacteria such as dandelion leaves, parsley and hydrangea. Marshmallows help soothe inflammations and help build immunity while mullein helps reduce the chances of contracting Urinary Tract Infections. Horsetail herb is known to stop bleeding from the urinary tract and also encourage the urine flow.

Recommended Urinary Tract Infection prevention tips include : drinking adequate water at least seven to eight glasses every day, urinate frequently never hold your bladder, wipe from front to back when cleansing, avoid perfumed deodorants and chemicals, wear airy, cotton undergarments and avoid use of douches and feminine sprays. Having more liquids or juices such as carrot juice, sugarcane and lemon juice can reduce the chances of contracting Urinary Tract Infection. Intake of Vitamin C enriched foods also helps balance the acid base preventing bacterial growth. It is advisable to avoid intake of hot and spicy foods, artificial sweeteners, processed and refined foods, stimulants such as tea, coffee and carbonated beverages till such condition persists.

The most common cause of UTI infections is e.coli bacteria. Although it is possible for e. coli to cause bowel symptoms, it is more likely that other bacteria in feces will infect either the vagina or urinary tract.Viruses, bacteria and fungi tend to coexist in our bodies at all times symptoms result when one of the three gets out of balance.

A common treatment for UTI is D-mannose (the concentrated constituent in cranberry juice.) Also, oral probiotics will tend to shift the bacterial balance into more favorable ratios. Herbal teas including uva ursi, galium, pipissewa and calendula may be helpful for kidney and urinary tract support. Depending upon the specific symptoms, there are also homeopathic remedies such as cantharis which may be beneficial. Chronic UTIs should be treated with immune supportive therapies which may include castor oil packs, dry skin brushing, and dietary modifications.
