Eczema or eczematous dermatitis is not an infectious disease, but don't expect overnight results as eczema is difficult to cure completely, but easier to control. Follow these simple tips and home remedies for eczema -

  • First thumb rule for eczema treatment is to avoid scratching, although it is difficult to resist. A starched skin is difficult to heal and bacteria can get in through the cracks easily, causing infection.
  • It is wise to avoid the substances that stress your skin and trigger an allergic reaction, for example if you are allergic to soy or fish then avoid them completely to avoid the symptoms.
  • Avoid too much exposure to warm water as it can dry your skin soon. Cold compressed can be applied on the itchy skin to reduce the itchiness.
  • Wear soft and comfortable cotton clothing (undergarments too) and avoid the clothes that irritate your skin. Sudden temperature and humidity changes should also be avoided. As eczema is mainly related to dry and itchy skin, the most common treatment a specialist would suggest is application of creams and ointments that contains corticosteroids and anti-histamines (pills) to keep the skin moist and moisturized as far as possible.

Follow these home remedies for athlete's foot -

  • Keep your feet dry all the time. Wear comfortable shoes and preferably cotton dry socks (wash them in hat water with bleach).
  • Soak your feet for about 10 minutes in a solution of tea tree oil mixed with little water or olive oil or you can even apply tea tree oil on the affected area if you feel the foot still moist.
  • To dry skin and reduce skin to attract fungus, apply alcohol on the affected area.
