Blisters are basically lesions on the inner sides of the cheeks and the throat. They affect the soft tissue lining and they can be very discomforting and painful. These blisters are either seen in groups or singly and are usually on the inside of the cheeks, tongue, lips, gums or inside the throat. Blisters in the mouth, are seen in the form of tongue blisters as also blisters on the lips and are known as mouth sores, canker sores or mouth ulcers. This is a very common condition amongst most people and therefore one would want to know what causes fever blisters as also other blisters in the body. We could deal with them separately.
Blisters in the mouth and throat can be caused by a number of factors, the most common one being eating very spicy or acidic food. If the occurrence of such blisters is regular, it might indicate a deficiency of vitamin 12, iron or folic acid in your daily diet. Excess stress and hormonal changes in the body can also be a cause of mouth and throat blisters. People who have braces or dentures that don't fit well are also prone to developing such blisters because the oral tissues inside the mouth can get irritated. Some of the other causes of blisters in the mouth and throat include disorders like bowel diseases, neutrophil dysfunction diseases and Behcet's disease. In children, blisters are generally a result of bacterial or viral infections. Such blisters are also seen if a person is suffering from a sore throat, oral herpes or tonsillitis. Blisters on most occasions appear and disappear on their own but if they are a result of bacterial or viral infections or herpes, they should be treated by a doctor at the earliest. In such cases anti-viral medicines are used for blisters treatment. In most cases where the blisters are painful, pain killers may also be given additionally. Some other methods of blisters treatment include medicated mouthwashes, ulcer gels, medicated toothpastes or even corticosteroids. If the blisters are caused by nutritional deficiencies, they can be treated by adding nutritional supplements to the daily diet. Spicy and acidic foods can damage the inner tissue lining of the mouth and so care must be taken to avoid such foods. Toothpastes that have a high content of sodium lauryl sulfate must be avoided in order to prevent getting blisters.

- Chewing some basil leaves twice a day with water helps cure blisters in mouth that causes bad breath. Thus this is helps as a double cure for the blisters as also the problem of bad breath.
- Mulberry juice can be had to provide relief from painful blisters.
- A boiled mixture of coriander seeds and water can be used for gargling at least 3-4 times in a day to treat blisters in the mouth and throat.
- Peppermint oil applied to such blisters can also relieve the irritation and pain.
- If you are suffering from frequent blisters, eating banana and curd every morning can be a great cure.
- Tomato juice can be had regularly to prevent and cure blisters.
- The simplest remedy for mouth and throat blisters is gargling everyday with hot and cold water alternatively.
- A mixture of glycerin and turmeric powder can also be applied on the blisters to cure them.
- Garlic oil being a good disinfectant, can be applied on mouth blisters to soothe them. Chewing on garlic will also help in the treatment of tongue blisters and dore throat.
- A mixture of coconut water and honey can also be used for gargling when suffering from blisters. Honey has healing properties while coconut water provides cooling and hence when used in combination, they provide a good home cure for painful blisters.
These simple home remedies used for blisters treatment can provide effective relief from painful and recurrent blisters that may appear on the face including the nose and mouth.
