Stages of Ovarian Cancer

There are four stages of ovarian cancer. They are:

  • Stage 1: When cancer cells are found in one or both of the ovaries.
  • Stage 2: When cancer cells have spread from the ovaries to the surrounding tissues of the pelvic area. The cancer cells may also be found in the fallopian tubes, the uterus and fluid from the abdomen.
  • Stage 3: When cancer cells have spread to tissues beyond the pelvic area. They may be found in the regional lymph nodes and on the surface of the liver.
  • Stage 4: When cancer cells have spread to tissues beyond the pelvic and abdominal areas. They may be found inside the liver or in the lungs and other organs.
