Liquoice lip balm
suggested by Sophie on Thursday, May 29, 2008

Hey guys, for all you people who suffer from cold sores like myself and are desperate to find a cure, there is a lip balm called liquorice lip balm which is to prevent and shorten the healing process. Because I had done some research on google, and there was a woman who said that she had suffered severe frequent cold sore attacks since a very young age and had tried every type of cure/remedy, and had no success. Until one day she tried the Liquorice lip balm. And apparently she had not suffered from any cold sore attacks from as long as she has been using the balm! Also there was another story of another woman who said she also suffered frequent attacks, and didn’t believe it would work until one day she tried it, and has said she has not suffered any attacks for the last 16 months! All I can say is wow! I have not tried it personally yet, but if definitely am going to buy some. You use it as an everyday lip balm, even if you do not have an outbreak of blisters.

With spring fast approaching and the cold/flu season hitting all-time highs; arm your defenses with an amino acid that the body CANNOT produce. Lysine is indispensable; it is also used for the health & integrity of skin by promoting the production of collagen and tissue maintenance. L-Lysine 500mg. Take 1 tablet daily.

Natural cure for cold sores
suggested by Vicky on Thursday, December 6, 2007

I was plagued with cold sores for years and years until I applied 2 or 3 drops of neat 'Organic Cider Vinegar' to the offending little blighters. It stung like fury for 2 or 3 minutes and then, thankfully, the stinging gradually got less and less and disappeared completely. So did the cold sores and I have never had one since. That was at least 5 years ago.

LYSINE!!!

Everyone should know about the amino acid Lysine as a treatment for cold sores. I get really bad cold sores, sometimes very frequently.(one time I was "attacked" by the virus NINE TIMES in one month! I fought all of them off with Lysine and only ended up with one small actual cold sore, only because I ran out of Lysine! At the very first tingling, I will take 4-5 500mg Lysine capsules, and repeat until I don't feel the tingle anymore. (Usually 3-4 times a day for 2-3 days). It is good to keep up a maintenance dose of 1-2 500 mg dose for a few days after, or until your particular triggers have passed. (Stress is a big one for me, as well as during my period. Oh, and chocolate!!!) I have avoided getting any cold sores for months on end, and the only time I typically get them now is when I am out of Lysine and have to get some the next day. Taking the same large doses after the cold sore has developed will still significantly reduce the severity of the sore. I don't know why everyone doesn't know this! Lysine actually blocks the receptors the virus would latch onto (this is my non scientific language - look it up it's true) AND it's co-amino acid Arginine PROMOTES COLD SORES - foods high in Arginine include Chocolate and Nuts. Good to know, eh? You can get Lysine at most any place where vitamins and supplements are available.
