Scoliosis - Symptoms
Symptoms of Scoliosis
Some of the signs of scoliosis may include:
- Uneven shoulders and waist
- The left or right portion of the hip appearing elevated
- One shoulder blade appearing more prominent
- In extreme cases, the spine will rotate and twist. It can also curve from side to side. This causes the ribs to poke out further from one side of the rib cage.
- Severe cases of scoliosis will induce back pain, pain in the side and breathing difficulties
Consult your physician immediately if you notice any of these symptoms in your child. The curvature to the spine usually occurs very gradually and can be difficult to notice until it is quite obvious. You may also notice that your child's clothes do not fit properly and that one pant leg is longer than the other.
