The removal of a gall bladder is also known as cholecystectomy. Once type surgery is completed the function of the liver to supply bile to digest food in the small intestine carries on unaffected. However post surgery the organs are a little weaker due the stress and hence need to be given time to regenerate their energy. That is probably the only reason why you will need to maintain a diet. Other than that the consumption of all kinds of food is unrestricted. Generally people who have had their gall bladder removed follow a low fat diet for a couple of weeks as it make the process of digestion easier. Avoid the consumption of caffeine, peppermint, smoking at all cost and large amounts of chocolate.
Eat a diet that is rich fiber and nutrients. Therefore consume a large amount of fruits, fruit juices, and green leafy vegetables. Avoid consuming large amounts of red meat, instead substitute it with fish. Do not consume very spicy food or food that is deep fried or contains hydrogenated fats as they are difficult to digest and sometimes cause heart burn in patients who are recovering. If you like you can also take some vitamin ad mineral supplements to help the healing process. Make sure that you do not consume a large meal in one sitting. Instead eat a series of small and more frequent meals
