What is on our right side and is causing it to hurt when I go to the bathroom?

Appendicitis is an inflammation of the worm-like pouch that’s a part of the digestive tract. This tiny portion of the bowel is present at the point where the large intestines and the small intestines merge. This organ is considered vestigial and has no major function to perform in the body. When the appendix gets inflamed, there may be a constant dull pain in the right side of the lower abdomen. The pain usually starts up from the navel region and travels all the way through the lower abdominal region. However, a lot of times, the person may not feel pain as such. Pain is only felt when there is movement. This pain could be often accompanied by fever and vomiting. There is also usually loss of appetite. Appendicitis typically occurs before a person has reached thirty years of age. However, this does not mean that older people can’t have it. Still, the instances in older people are very few.

Appendicitis occurs due to a bacterial attack. During the process of digestion, food might get lodged into the appendix and the bacteria begin to grow. When the walls of the appendix become infected with the bacteria, it gets inflamed and the person feels the pain. Until now, there are no tests that can confirm appendicitis in a person. The only way to diagnose this condition is by checking the medical history, conducting a physical examination, and a few blood tests that can confirm the presence of bacteria. Ultrasound tests are often conducted to give more weight to the suspicion. The only treatment of appendicitis is the surgical removal of the organ, also known as an appendectomy. If your doctor feels that you do not have appendicitis, you should get yourself checked for kidney stones too. The symptoms are somewhat similar, except that the urine smells sharp when you have kidney stones and blood could appear while passing urine. Usually stones less that 4 mm are passed out on their own in the urine.

However if the pain persists, eat dried kidney beans or French beans. You can also boil these beans, strain and then drink the strained liquid. This promotes the health of the kidneys and helps reduce the stones naturally. Follow these guidelines if the stones are relatively small, and can pass out while urinating. A mixture of basil juice and honey can also work wonders for treating kidney stones.
