Phlegm on chest

Phlegm on chest is essentially a secretion that is produced by the respiratory system of the body - primarily when the body is unable to get rid of a certain infection over a significant period of time. It is also commonly produced when certain irritants tend to build up around the bronchial lining. Tobacco smoke, for example, is one of the more common of these irritants while other common irritants include smoke, dust and general atmospheric pollution. The development of phlegm on chest can also be attributed to being one of the more common developments when affected by chronic bronchitis. This condition is more prevalent in adults - especially males in their middle ages. Some of the other rather common medical ailments that also increase the body's phlegm on chest production in an effort to get rid of the condition include the common cold, asthma, pneumonia and clotting in the blood vessels. In some cases, one might notice that the phlegm is thicker than usual. This is usually indicative of the intensity of the infection as well as a symptom of the condition affecting the individual. For example, thick phlegm is generally indicative of a condition being caused by a bacterial or viral infection.

Because of the fact that phlegm on chest is a very common occurrence, there are a number of home remedies that have been developed all over the world. These home remedies aim at allowing sufferers a more comfortable lifestyle when affected by the condition. In most cases, the phlegm on chest appears to cause a sort of blockage because of how thick it is. In order for it to be able to be passed out of the body more effectively, one would need to thin out the concentration of the phlegm within the chest. This could be easily achieved by simply inhaling steam. The hot vapors of the steam help loosen out the phlegm from the bronchial lining and thereby allow it to pass out of the body much more easily. Another very useful home remedy would be to take a few basil leaves and a teaspoon of crushed ginger, mixed with a pinch of black pepper. All these ingredients should be added to a cup of water and boiled together before allowing the solution to simmer for about 5 minutes. Adding a little honey will bring out a pleasing taste while the solution itself should be consumed at least 4 times a day in quantities of a single teaspoon each time.
