Home Remedies For Healthy Hair Growth
Nothing spells femininity like a head full of long glossy locks. If long hair has always been on your wish list, read on to find out ways to grow your hair faster using easy home remedies…
Following are some tried and tested home remedies to grow long hair:
- Mix three tablespoons of castor oil with one egg and one teaspoon of vinegar. Use this mix and massage your scalp once a week to encourage hair growth
- For healthier hair, steep a handful or rosemary leaves in a cup of hot water. Drain and add half a bottle of your favorite shampoo to this blend. This formula is mild enough to wash your hair with daily
- Deep cleanse your hair often with a homemade mix of apple cider vinegar and water. This mix will help remove the build up of styling products and dead skin on the scalp and allow hair to grow thicker and faster
- Massage your hair and scalp with oils such as coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, or avocado oil. You can also warm these oils before using and leave them in the hair for deep conditioning. Such oil treatments can help improve the texture and increase the shine
Apart from home remedies, you need to make the following changes to your diet to see a change in your hair growth:
- Make sure you eat foods rich in vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, and vitamin E. These include dairy products, fish, meat, leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits, nuts and whole grains
- Specific foods that may help hair growth include protein rich foods such as lean meats, beans, and soy products. Protein helps form keratin that keeps the hair stronger and shinier. Foods such as eggs, lentils, seafood, and seeds are rich in zinc and iron. Iron helps improve circulation and increases hair growth while zinc is necessary for cellular growth and tissue repair
- Healthy fats such as omega 3 fatty acids and unsaturated fats are essential for hair growth as well
Tips to Grow Long Hair Naturally
Make the following changes to your hair care habits to ensure speedy growth and strong hair:
- If you want your hair to grow faster and longer it is important to trim your hair often. If your ends are damaged (and they tend to break and split easily if your hair is long), the hair just stops growing and the damage only worsens. To prevent this from happening, trim at least half an inch of your ends every three or four months and watch your tresses grow
- Avoid excessive styling and the use of heated appliances. Do not curl your hair with hot rollers or tongs or straighten your hair with a flat iron if you want your hair to grow faster and stay healthy. If you have to blow dry, use the dryer on a cool setting and never when your hair is sopping wet. It is best to let your hair dry naturally to avoid broken ends and a frizzy mane
- Harsh chemical treatments are an absolute no-no if you want to grow out your locks. Perms, hair colors and straightening treatments contain peroxide that can damage the hair shaft and cause hair fall
- If you have to tie your hair up or style it, use specially designed accessories that do not damage or break the hair. Rubber bands for example end up tearing the hair when you remove them and metal hair bands can hurt the scalp
There are cases where slow hair growth or excessive hair fall may be caused by an underlying medical condition. If you notice no change in your hair growth even after a few months, consult with a doctor about possible treatments or medication to remedy the situation.
