Symptoms of Mesothelioma
Depending on where the cancer develops, the signs and symptoms of mesothelioma can vary i.e.
Symptoms of Pleural mesothelioma:
- Chest pain
- Lower back pain
- Chronic and painful coughing
- Fever
- Weight loss
- Shortness of breath
- Lumps of tissue under the skin of the chest
- Fatigue
- Excessive sweating
- Difficulties swallowing
- Hoarse throat
- Muscle weakness
- Swollen face or arms
The symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma:
- Pain in the abdomen
- Swelling in the abdomen
- Lumps of tissue in the abdomen
- Weight loss
- Fever
- Anemia
- Nausea and vomiting
Pericardial mesothelioma symptoms:
If you have any of the above signs or symptoms of mesothelioma, you need to see a doctor immediately. It is common for people to ignore the early signs of the disease or for a wrong diagnosis to take place as symptoms can often be confused for other illnesses. However, if you fall within the high-risk group and have been exposed to asbestos for any duration of time, it is better to do the necessary tests and begin treatment at the earliest.
