Remove water from ears

While taking a shower water has entered my left ear and its been a week now. I had been to the ENT and he has prescribed me some medication which I do not want to opt for. I simply need to get the water off my ear, help.

The human ear is amazing and actually has inbuilt mechanisms which prevent water from entering. Usually it is earwax which prevents the water from entering. Ear wax is oily and does not allow water to get past. In some cases however the pressure of water helps forces it past the protective layer of the ear wax. This usually happens when you are swimming or, as in your case, when you were taking a shower.

The ear wax, which prevents water from getting in, now prevents water from getting out. And the water is trapped in the ear. The presence of water in your ear canal helps various bacteria and fungus to grow. It is these that cause an irritation and feeling of discomfort in the ear. You may also notice some pain when you touch your ear. This condition is usually referred to as swimmer's ear, since it affects people who swim. One of the best known and most effective home remedies to get rid of water in your ear involves using white vinegar and water. Take both these in equal measures. And then drop a few drops of this in your ear. Massage your ear gently after this. If, however you experience any pain or notice any discharge from you ear, it is advisable to visit your doctor.
