The size of a woman's breasts is mostly influenced by her genetic structure and to a certain extent by her body size. In order to know if there are any substantial divergences between having large or small breasts, it is important to understand the basic organic structure of the breast. The size of the breast is determined by the number of fatty and fibrous tissues rather than the quantity of milk producing glands in them. Under normal circumstances, the size of the breast does not cause any difference in crucial biological functioning or conditions.

It is important to note that one must not expect more or less from the body because of the size of breasts, as a woman's capability to lactate and nurse a child as well as the risk of breast cancer - which happen to be two of the most significant health concerns - are totally unconnected to breast size.

Admittedly, the size of breasts plays a powerful impact on a woman's psychological well-being, especially with all the emphasis that society and culture raises on breast size. Realizing the external and internal pressures that exist in the mind of a woman and what she is going through, women need to be encouraged to feel good about their own bodies and help them dispel any myths associated with large or small breasts.

With regards to your low-weight it is important to note that having intense emotional or mental stress, anxiety and worries, poor eating habits are all valid factors that contribute to a person been underweight. Being underweight can also indicate deficiencies in important vitamins and minerals. More over a person who is underweight also stands the risk of infection, osteoporosis and other medical disorders. Although there are many treatments to treat the condition, it is important to know if there are any physical origins of being underweight such as genetic causes or underlying illness. Your medical expert and nutritionist will help you in choosing the right foods in order to tip the scales in a positive direction. Lay strong emphasis on foods that come loaded with nutritional benefits rather than choosing empty calorie foods such as fast food or sugary desserts.

Also include healthy snacking between mealtimes and before bedtime as it plays an important role in weight gain. Include plenty of dried fruits, nuts and seeds and yoghurt in your diet. Your dietician will be the best judge to determine whether you require pharmaceutical assistance or appetite stimulants in order to help you gain more weight. Please do not indulge in over-the-counter or non-prescription stimulants as most medications come with unpleasant side-effects.

Increasing your weight will also help to increase your breast size. According to your height your weight should be at least 52-55 kg which means you need to gain at least 15 kg to maintain an ideal body weight.

Follow these guidelines for gaining weight and increasing the breast size:

  • Gradually increase your whole day’s caloric intake. Have small caloric dense meals at frequent intervals instead of eating only twice or thrice a day.
  • Increase your total fat content in the diet; this can help increase the breast size.
  • Consume energy dense foods like nuts, seeds, milkshake, full cream milk, cream, butter, cheese, figs, dates, and dried fruits daily.
  • A balanced meal including whole cereal grains and its products, sprouts, pulses and legumes, fish, poultry and lean meat. Try to avoid drinking water before meals.
  • Exercise to enhance the pectoral muscles and give a firmer shape to your breast. Joint both your palms placing them between your breasts. Press the lower part of the palms 10-15 times. This exercise will help you to firm up the breast muscle.
  • Weight gain and breast enlargement would not happen suddenly, till then to give a larger shape to your breast try wearing some light padded bras.
