Foot pain can be rather difficult to handle, especially if you have a job that requires you to be on your feet a lot of the time. Pain in other parts of the body can usually be handled, because the affected part is not constantly in use. With foot pain however, the only way to get some rest is to stay in bed, and for most of us, this is impossible. Furthermore, if the problem is chronic, then a day or two of rest will not be enough - a permanent solution is needed.
First of all, you need to look at what, apart from the fact that you are on your feet for 14 hours a day, could be contributing to the pain. Unsuitable footwear is among the most common causes. Make sure that your shoes fit comfortably - if they are too tight, they will of course squeeze your foot and hamper circulation and movement. However, even if they are too loose they will cause problems; footwear that is too loose will rub against your sin and will almost imperceptibly affect your movements, causing some amount of strain. You should also make sure that your shoes support your feet properly - the sole of your shoes should provide proper arch support and cushioning in order to minimize strain. If possible, you should also try to wear flat shoes - if you currently wear heels for 14 hours a day, then this is certainly more than half the reason for your pain. Switching to flat shoes (or at least heels that are no more than two inches tall) is sure to drastically improve the situation. These shoes may not look as great as high heels, but if you look around you will find a pair that looks good. High heels are meant to be worn for short periods of time, not all through the day; your health is certainly worth more than a tiny bit of elegance.
It is also essential that you take short breaks during the day to give your feet some rest. Two to five minutes every hour should be enough. When you're in the middle of a huge load of work this often seems impossible, but if you stand back and look at it in perspective, you will see that a few minutes taken out of your entire day in order to take care of your feet will earn your more than it will cost you.
