My skin is very rough and pimply. So please provide a solution.

It is unpleasant to have itchy and dry skin. Winter generally makes the condition worse. You might spend a lot of money buying creams and lotions and over the counter treatments, but not much helps in making your skin soft and luxuriant. You can try some simple home remedies to seal in the moisture and get relief from the itch and roughness.

Reasons for dry skin: Remember that some people have a tendency to have dry skin. Also if you are older, then your skin produces less oil and you will have dry skin. Weather conditions are another reason for dry, parched skin. Winter months with low humidity are often harsh on the skin and you have to take more care of the skin during this season. If you work in an air-conditioned environment or use the heater through the day, then you're likely to get dry skin. Spending a lot of time under a hot shower or a tub-full of hot water can also take away the moisture from your skin. If you use harsh house cleaning agents and detergents, then that too can rob the moisture from the skin. Using a harsh soap or shower gel can cause dryness too.

Home remedies:

  • For pimply skin, try a garlic pack. Yes, it has a pungent smell, but the antibiotic properties in garlic will do a good job of treating your pimples. Take a whole garlic, chop and mash it, and pat it on your face. Be careful while applying it near your eyes. Wash the garlic off after 3-4 minutes with warm water.
  • For treating your skin, mix a spoonful of lime juice with equal amounts of cinnamon powder. Apply this on the pimples.
  • Mix honey and cinnamon powder, and pat the mixture on your face. Keep it overnight and wash in the morning. This keeps your skin hydrated, fresh and free from pimples. Continue for two weeks for best results.
  • A mixture of milk and freshly-ground nutmeg powder is good for treating the skin.
  • Store and sun-dry orange peels. Pound the peels and mix the powder with water. This pack nourishes the skin.
  • A mixture of groundnut oil and lime juice is known to prevent blackheads.
  • Extract the juice of raw Papaya and apply it on the pimples.
  • Make a face pack with fresh yogurt, chick pea flour and a few drops of rose water. You can mix some sandalwood powder too, if you wish. Apply this pack for fresh, hydrated skin.
  • Use olive oil to get relief from dryness.
